Member Showcase - Robert Trawick
Had I not created my Facebook private group page, Fashion Photographer’s Connect!, I never would have met Robert Trawick, even though he’s been a Lifetime member for a few years! Robert has the kind of personality that just draws you in! He’s warm, friendly, funny, gregarious, helpful, supportive— He’s literally a GREAT F’ING GUY!! He had me at Hello with that Southern accent of his. I’m just in love with his genuine, generous spirit. I’m going to copy and paste his “official bio” because it really sums him up!
“Robert has a long list of accomplishments but still has to pay full price at the local coffee shops. Being called “the most interesting photographer in Oklahoma”, he loves sharing his knowledge, along with a few tricks honed over a 30+ career.
A self-professed “time-traveler”, Robert has been active in the industry since 1980 receiving most of his formal training during a twenty-year career as a USAF photojournalist. A recent convert to mirrorless camera system - Fujifilm X Series - he encourages others to embrace new technologies to achieve their photographic goals. Just spend a few minutes with Robert to gain insight into the passion that drives him to share the joy of crafting fabulous images.
Robert is the co-host for FotoFacts Podcast, a casual iTunes audio show highlighting photo education and industry influencers. Follow his antics on most social media platforms as “trawickimages”. Robert happily shares life’s beautiful “Instagrams” with the inspirations in his life - a fabulously talented photographer wife Terri & amazing daughters Amy, Amber, Georgia, and Shannon!
Robert recently did this shoot that we are showcasing here today and this is what he has to say about it:
“The idea of this private shoot group came from Zoom meetings and conversations on the Fashion Photograher’s Connect! Facebook group. After interviews with Melissa Rodwell and David Anthony on the FotoFacts podcast, the first shoot out was setup as a “The Denim Challenge”. The fashion industry in Oklahoma is very limited to non-existent but both encouraged me to “Just Do It” any way.
These images are from the second event held at a private ranch of fellow photographer Tammy Hall and was focused on “Western & Ranch Fashion”. After a brief introduction of models, the photographers were let loose to create images on the property. The sole purpose being to collaborate to improve our skillset, all all fronts: photographers, models and stylists. It’s not unusual to see everyone helping wiht stands, lights, scrims, posing, outfits, sharing lenses, ideas, tips, etc.
Our motto is “Be More - Do More”. We believe that to be more, and progress, you must actively choose to do more.
Currently we have 75 members and encourage everyone in the group to setup smaller groups or personal shoots between our quarterly events. These events give everyone a chance to experiment and create in a casual environment that respects individuality!”
