New Work Wednesday - Steve Ellinger
I have been doing agency testing for many years. Seldom does an opportunity come along to work with a set of identical twin agency models, so when the call came to do this set I naturally jumped on the opportunity with a definite YES! The Dragonfly Agency based in Los Angeles and Dallas represent Allie and Emily Crawford, a set of identical twins that just convey a fashion intensity like no other. For this set, I knew that I needed a top-tier team to deliver the results. I immediately contacted Dallas based stylist Catrina Henderson, who I have worked with on numerous occasions. Working from an agency supplied mood board, Catrina and I begin a dialogue with how to pull off the edgy fashion vibe that the agency requested. Catrina then set out to pull the looks and wardrobe that would complement the twin’s looks.
As with any agency test or fashion shoot, the team is paramount. To complement the fashion vibe, I enlisted the help of two of my favorite make-up and hairstylists to deliver a look that is consistent with the mood of the shoot. Jesseca Barstad and Melissa Sanders teamed up to give the models a stunning but natural look. Interestingly, this was one of the few fashion sets that I have done that did not require a hairstyle.
Working with multiple models on-set at the same time always presents certain challenges as there must be consistency with expressions, looks, and movement that is harmonious. Perhaps it was just in the genes, or a natural sibling trait, but Allie and Emily moved like a fluid symphony together complimenting one another’s looks and moves. The entire team helped choreograph the entire shoot while on-set, also working in a coordinated fluid effort. The entire shoot allowed all of us to explore more of our creative tendencies!
