EYES OPEN SHUT

So let me say first up……I am privileged to work with some awesome creatives.

We were given an opportunity by one of the leading Hair Color Specialists to come up with an innovative way to showcase their wide range hair color products. This is how our journey began.

Fabio Machia from Shag High Voltage Hair, videographer Josh Mudrovcic and myself got together and agreed that we were up for this challenge. We spent the next few weeks coming up with some ideas and eventually we knew that we had a epic concept to build on. The ideas got better and better and eventually the story unfolded. The story board was roughly sorted, now came the really difficult part…..finding the right location, wardrobe and most importantly, who could be the leads. This turned out to be really difficult.

We eventually agreed that there could be only one girl who could play the role. Now we had to find the guy who could be as strong. This took longer that expected, but we stuck to our decision not to settle and we eventually found our lead guy.

The next 2 hurdles we had to overcome was the location and the vehicle we were going to use. The location was a relatively quick decision as both Josh and I had shot there before and knew the area well, and both agreed that it would make the perfect backdrop.

The vehicle however was a different story. We wanted to use an American muscle car, a black Dodge Challenger. We found one, but had difficulty in persuading the owner to drive it to the location. The next one was an old beat up Ford F250. The owner was only to happy to let us use it, only one problem……it could only turn right….the steering box was broken, but he was keen to fix it. A week before the shoot date, he informed us that the vehicle would not be ready. This can’t be happening……we were about to postpone the shoot when we were saved by a guy named Archie who had a F250 we could use….only one catch….we had to move the location to his area. We agreed not knowing whether we would find the same setting as we wanted. Google earth gave us some hope, but we wouldn’t know until we got there. oh and this was 3 days before the shoot date.

Why am I telling you all this?…….Well to let you know that our shoot that lasted 1 day took us nearly 7 weeks to plan and prepare. All the hard work we put into planning and prepping made the shoot day a breeze. Everyone only sees the end product and never quite understands how much more is required to produce that work.

So this is what we cam up with after 7 weeks of planning and 1 day of shooting.
