Oklahoma Workshop! March 26 & 27, 2022!
New York City really messed up! The crazy, draconian lockdowns that took place from March 15, 2020, were the final nail in the coffin for my slowly dwindling infatuation with The Big Apple. And let’s face it, I moved there in 1987 when it was a much different place and I was a much different person.
But here we are in 2022 and if the pandemic did anything positive, it fast-tracked me out of NYC and it got me on the road, started exploring other cities and states in this big old Country otherwise known as The USA, and wow, I was floored! What I normally referred to as “the fly-over States”, I had to check my Big City Ego at the State Lines because there are some AWESOME cities here! Now my goal is to explore as many as possible, traveling within the US (cuz it’s just a great place), and hold workshops in places other than NYC & LA. Portfolio Building Day will still be held there for the time being until we can get more people on board to host them in other cities but for me, I want to travel to parts unknown and discover places I have never been to or only driven through on Route 40 on my way to or from NYC!

In 2021, we had two awesome workshops! One in St. Louis, Missouri, and the second one in Dallas, Texas! In 2022 we’re going to kick off our first Two-Day Workshop in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! I was in OKC recently shooting an ad campaign on a 175-acre horse farm (DREAM JOB!) and simply fell in the love with the place! The people, the food, the city, the downtown vibe! So I asked Scotty Vo if we could invade his GORGEOUS studio for 2 Days and he said YES! Check out his space, it’s an incredible studio with more EQ than B+H and centrally located near the airport and about 20 hotels! Check out the space HERE!

HERE’S THE SCHEDULE FORMAT:
On Saturday, at 9 AM, we will meet at Scott Vo’s beautiful studio, STUDIO V in Oklahoma City! We will begin our workshop with nationally known agency testing and fashion photographer Steve Ellinger, CPP. Steve will present an overview on what agency testing is, how to get started with agencies, and all of the do’s and don’ts with working with models and agencies. It’s the most comprehensive program of its type in the United States. As part of his program, Ellinger will present a guest speaker(s) that will offer first-hand insight on what agencies want to see, and perhaps more importantly what they do not want to see. Included in the morning’s presentation are discussions on the history of fashion photography, lighting techniques, how to properly crop and present, the basics of doing proper portfolios, how to get “the look”, and how to sell yourself to agencies. The morning program will be a lead-in to an afternoon of fast-paced shooting with two very experienced agency models.
After a short break, we will start shooting around noon! I will then step in and explain the lighting setups we will have set up for you & why I use these setups continuously on my own editorial and advertising assignments. There will be 2 models with 4 looks each and multiple shooting stations with various light setups to optimize multiple images for your portfolio! Think of this as a Portfolio Building Day mixed with our previous exclusive Advanced Lighting Workshop! You get both in two days!

On Saturday evening, for those of you who wishto participate, we will meet up at Cowboys! Think indoor Rodeo, line dancing and rubbing elbows with OKC’s real deal local scene! For those brave souls, there is a mechanical bull! I don’t think you can convince me to get on one of those but we’ll see!

On Sunday we will meet again at Studio V for more shooting! This time we will meet at 10 AM to start shooting right away! We will have 2 different models so you can optimize more models, more looks for your portfolios! Lighting setups will differ a bit but not to worry, I and my Breed Team will be on hand for any questions! We’re here to help you grow, learn and transpire your work to the level of professionalism you strive for!
