IT WAS A BEACH MORNING
Living close to some of the best beaches in South Africa you can never get bored. The beach gives you so much opportunity and so many challengers.
This day started at 05:00 and fortunately it was warm and the sea was just the right temperature.
For those interested I took my Nikon D4 with 2 lenses, my 24-120 f4 and my 70-200 f2,8 - no lights this time
The early morning the light is so amazing and gives a great warn touch to the images. Even though the sun is very low in the sky, the light is still quite hard and you need to choose where and how you shoot very carefully.
The beach can be very chaotic with lots of unwanted elements that don’t really add value to an image. Finding those spots that allow you to isolate your model is essential to a successful shoot.
The image above I used the Life Saving Guard tower and below this small stone wall for some texture.
Shooting with the sun and into the sun will also give you some very different looks, so never be afraid to experiment with your light.
This shot I had the sun behind me but still allowing the light to create the shadows.
The shot below I moved to where I was shooting almost into the sun and I got this look.
Shooting from different angles will also give your images a different perspective.
Don’t forget to do the wide shots.
And of course the close-ups.
